RV, camper and motorhome trip planning toolbox – The best ever created
Our family RV adventure began with the excitement of picking up our rented motorhome in Brisbane, where we had meticulously planned a 9-day round trip that would take us through a mix of coastal and inland gems. With the perfect blend of outdoor activities, fascinating museums, and family-friendly spots, we were ready to create unforgettable memories on the road.
We kicked off our journey with a stop at the Brisbane Opal Museum, a fascinating introduction to the world of Australian opals. The museum was a hit for the whole family, and our campervan had plenty of room to stow away some opal souvenirs. From here, we hit the road towards the coast, where the kids were eager to experience snorkeling in Byron Bay. The vibrant coral and the chance to spot marine life in the turquoise waters made this a must-do for any family.
Heading further down the coast, our next stop was Yamba, where we took a relaxing and fun kayak tour. The calm waters and stunning scenery offered a great opportunity to bond as a family while paddling together. The beauty of traveling in a motorhome meant we had all the space we needed to relax after a day of adventure, with the added convenience of a kitchen to whip up some quick meals along the way.
From the coast, we ventured inland, planning our route using a trusted RV route planner. Stanthorpe Heritage Museum was next on our list, where the kids were enthralled by the history of the region, while we soaked in the charm of this heritage town. A quick picnic lunch, easily prepared in the motorhome, followed before we continued further inland.
For a bit of a historical twist, we visited the Australian Army Flying Museum, which brought to life the aviation history of the region. The kids enjoyed exploring the vintage aircraft displays, and it gave us parents some great conversation starters as we settled back into our motorhome for the night.
On our return to Brisbane, we couldn’t miss out on visiting the iconic Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, where everyone loved the chance to cuddle a koala and learn more about Australia’s unique wildlife. The RV park nearby made it easy to park up and enjoy the sanctuary at a leisurely pace. We wrapped up the trip with some shopping therapy at Hyperdome Shopping Centre, giving us the perfect opportunity to pick up a few final souvenirs.
Throughout the journey, planning the road trip in our RV made everything feel seamless. The flexibility of a motorhome, along with a well-thought-out route plan, allowed us to adapt as needed and ensure we had downtime when required. For families looking to balance relaxation with adventure, a road trip like this is ideal. The motorhome served as both our travel companion and home, giving us all the comforts we needed, from sleeping space to meal prep, all while offering incredible scenery just outside the window.
A 9-day road trip might sound short, but when well-planned, it becomes a memorable adventure packed with diverse activities—perfect for families looking to enjoy Australia’s inland and coastal wonders.
