Embarking on a 16-day motorhome road trip from Kelowna to Whitehorse, including a detour to Vancouver Island, was an extraordinary adventure filled with breathtaking scenery and family-friendly experiences.
Our journey began at Davison Orchards Country Village in Kelowna, where the kids enjoyed the petting zoo and tractor rides, while we all savored fresh, locally-grown produce and homemade treats. It was the perfect start to our adventure, setting a joyful and relaxed tone.
Next, we headed to the Grizzly Bear Interpretive Centre in Golden. The kids were fascinated by the grizzly bears and the center's educational exhibits, which provided a closer look at these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat.
Hiking the Lake Agnes Trail in Banff was an invigorating experience for the whole family. The stunning views of the turquoise lake surrounded by majestic mountains made the hike well worth the effort. Banff's charm and the surrounding Canadian Rockies offered countless opportunities for outdoor exploration and family bonding.
Continuing our journey, we embarked on the Columbia Icefield Glacier Adventure. The kids were thrilled by the giant Ice Explorer vehicle that took us onto the glacier, and we all marveled at the surreal, icy landscape. The Jasper SkyTram provided another exhilarating experience, offering panoramic views of Jasper National Park from high above.
The Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum in Grande Prairie was a highlight, with its impressive dinosaur exhibits and interactive displays captivating everyone. The kids loved learning about prehistoric times, making this an educational and fun stop.
As we traveled north, the Fort St. John - North Peace Museum and Fort Nelson Heritage Museum provided fascinating insights into the region's history. The kids enjoyed the hands-on exhibits and the stories of pioneers and adventurers.
A soak in the Liard River Hot Springs Provincial Park was a relaxing treat, offering a natural oasis amidst our travels. The warm, mineral-rich waters were perfect for unwinding after days of exploring.
At the Northern Lights Centre in Watson Lake, we were captivated by the stunning displays of the aurora borealis, giving us a taste of the magical northern lights. Our journey concluded in Whitehorse, where we visited the Qwanlin Mall for some last-minute shopping and enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere of this northern city.
Throughout our trip, our RV route planner was indispensable. Road trip planning was crucial; we made sure to plan for frequent stops, pack plenty of snacks, and keep an itinerary handy. This approach helped us make the most of our adventure while keeping the trip fun and stress-free for everyone.
