Setting off on an 8-day motorhome adventure from Melbourne, we had our sights set on some incredible stops along Australia’s east coast, blending natural beauty, local heritage, and a touch of family-friendly fun. Traveling in a rented RV gave us the ultimate freedom to explore at our own pace, making this journey as much about the stops as it was about the time spent together on the road.

Our first stop at Mokoan Hub & Café set the tone for the trip. Surrounded by wetlands and with stunning views, this was the perfect place to grab a coffee and stretch our legs. The café itself was cozy and welcoming, and our kids loved looking out over the water, watching for birds and wildlife. It was a gentle start to the journey that we all appreciated.

Continuing onward, we made a stop at Ladies Bath Falls. This hidden gem was a refreshing oasis nestled in the mountains. The cool waters and beautiful surroundings provided a great spot for a family picnic and a splash around. Having our campervan parked nearby meant we had everything we needed on hand, making it a relaxed, unhurried experience. There’s something special about road trip planning that includes these nature stops, where the only sounds are the laughter of the kids and the trickling of water.

As we ventured further, we found ourselves at Stony Creek Fish Farm, an unexpected delight where we could learn about sustainable fish farming and even feed the fish. It was a fun, educational stop that added a unique twist to our road trip, giving everyone an interesting new story to share.

Peels Cruises offered us a chance to take in the beauty of the waterways on a relaxing boat ride. It was the perfect family-friendly activity, with spectacular views that had us snapping photos left and right. We even managed to spot some local wildlife from the boat, which kept the kids entertained and engaged.

For a taste of history, Old Gippstown - Gippsland's Heritage Park was a highlight. It felt like stepping back in time, with beautifully preserved buildings and artifacts from Australia’s past. We explored the old shops and cottages, and the kids had fun imagining what life would have been like in “the olden days.” Having our RV parked nearby allowed us to take our time, knowing we could rest and recharge whenever we wanted.

At Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park, we had the chance to get up close with some of Australia’s most iconic animals. The sanctuary’s dedication to conservation was inspiring, and the kids were thrilled to meet kangaroos, koalas, and other native wildlife. It was a wonderful, interactive experience that had everyone smiling from ear to ear.

On our final day, we made our way to Chadstone - The Fashion Capital, an impressive shopping destination that added a little luxury to our journey. With so many shops and dining options, it was the perfect way to end the trip. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch, picked up a few souvenirs, and marveled at the variety of stores on offer. Chadstone’s vibrant atmosphere and the mix of high-end and family-friendly shopping made it an exciting stop for everyone.

This round-trip RV journey from Melbourne was the perfect mix of relaxation, adventure, and discovery. Road trip planning was essential, allowing us to find a balance between scenic nature stops, educational sites, and family-friendly activities. Having a motorhome meant we could explore each place at our own pace, taking in the sights and making memories along the way.

The flexibility of a campervan allowed us to embrace the road, letting the journey unfold in its own way. Each stop brought something different, from the tranquil natural pools to the bustling shopping centers, creating a wonderful tapestry of experiences that made this road trip truly unforgettable.
