Embarking on an unforgettable adventure, our family set off on a one-way road trip from Tromsø to Bergen in a rented motorhome. Over the course of 18 days, we explored the stunning coastline of Norway, a journey filled with breathtaking landscapes, rich culture, and exciting activities for the whole family. With our RV packed and a route planner in hand, we were ready for an adventure of a lifetime.

Our journey began in Tromsø, where we visited Polaria, an Arctic experience center that introduced us to the region’s wildlife and ecosystems. The kids were fascinated by the seals during the interactive feeding sessions and enjoyed the engaging exhibits about the polar environment. Next, we headed to Bardu Bygdetun, an open-air museum that showcased traditional Norwegian rural life. Our next adventure led us to Arctic Whale Tours AS in Narvik. The thrill of spotting whales in their natural habitat left us in awe. As we made our way south, we arrived at the Lofotr Viking Museum in the Lofoten Islands. Here, we traveled back in time to the Viking era, exploring reconstructed longhouses and learning about the rich history of the Vikings. The interactive displays kept our kids engaged, and they especially enjoyed participating in traditional Viking games.

Driving along the scenic Muskenes Current, we were captivated by the dramatic landscapes surrounding us. The coastline was dotted with quaint fishing villages and stunning mountain views, making for picturesque photo opportunities. We took advantage of our campervan’s flexibility by stopping at charming spots along the way, allowing us to fully appreciate Norway’s natural beauty.

Our route then took us to Grønligrotta, a stunning cave system where we embarked on a guided tour through impressive limestone formations. As we approached Sverresborg Trøndelag Folk Museum, we were excited to delve deeper into Norway’s cultural heritage. The children loved trying out old-fashioned crafts and games, making this a memorable stop.

No trip to Norway would be complete without experiencing the iconic Atlantic Ocean Road. Driving along this engineering marvel, with its twisting bridges and breathtaking coastal views, was a highlight for the whole family. We stopped at various viewpoints to take in the stunning scenery and snap family photos.

As we continued our journey, we arrived at the Trollveggen Besøkssenter, where we learned about Norway’s highest vertical rock face. The visitor center provided fascinating insights into the region’s geology and climbing history. We were inspired to take in the stunning vistas and let our imaginations run wild as we gazed up at the towering cliffs.

Our adventure brought us to the Geiranger Adventure Kayak Centre, where we had the opportunity to kayak through the stunning Geirangerfjord. Paddling amidst the towering cliffs and cascading waterfalls was an exhilarating experience, and the kids loved the chance to explore this UNESCO World Heritage site from the water.

The next leg of our trip took us to the Loen Skylift, where we rode a gondola to the summit of Mt. Hoven. The views from the top were absolutely breathtaking, and we spent time hiking along the trails, soaking in the incredible landscapes.

Finally, we reached our destination of Bergen, where we explored the Fishmarket and indulged in fresh seafood at Fjellskål Sjømatrestaurant. The kids enjoyed trying local delicacies while we soaked in the vibrant atmosphere of the market. We also visited the Akvariet i Bergen, where we marveled at the diverse marine life, including seals, penguins, and tropical fish.
